The church was built with the permission of the Turkish authorities. Construction began in 1866. It was completed and consecrated on July 20, 1870. The church is 21 m long and 12 m wide. The temple is fully investigated and documented in 1992. Some of the icons are stored in the library. The church keeps a marble slab inscribed in Greek and 4 tombstones, 3 of which are stone and 1 is metal.
The school building is a part of the church complex. From 1878 to 1928 it housed the village school.
It has a cultural and historical value as a single preserved school building from this period in the region.
