Muslim cult object - village of Zvezdel

There is no information as to when the mosque was built in the village. It is known to be one of the oldest buildings in the village though. The two cemeteries near the village provide the only evidence that can help infer the village approximate age. There are graves in this cemetery that are dated back to the years 1700-1750 .
The Turkish name of the village is Gyok viran, which was later shortened to Gyuren. 100-150 years ago, only seven families lived in the village .At the onset of a disease, they moved their houses hundreds of meters away from one another, so as not to spread the disease. Today, one can still see houses that are far from each other.
It is assumed that the Muslim temple in Zvezdel dates back to 1800.
There is a fair every year in September. The locals call it Dag bairama. It takes place at the foot of the highest peak in the Eastern Rhodope Mountains.
