Old Kavala,
built at an altitude of 400m on the outskirts of MountSymvolo, is
known for its plentiful cool water, towering planetrees, mild
climate and traditional taverns. This is where ancientSkavala,
the gold and silver mines, were located. The ravages oftime have
an effect on words too, and Skavala became Kavala.Under
Ottoman Rule, residents from (Old) Kavala settled on thePanagia
peninsula and named it (New) Kavala. The Old Kavalasprings are
also where the Kavala aqueduct originated from.Activity:
