The Rhodope Massif covers the 70% of the total area of the Prefecture. It is divided by the stream of Echinos in west of the Forest Hyde and east of the villages of the mountainous region of Echinos. A visit to Stavroupoli which is the center of touristic tours is located in the North West part of the Prefecture. In the northwest part, and from there north to the Ioniko there are the ruins of the castle of Kalyva. Taking northwest direction from Stavroupoli, crossing forests of beech, mountain pine and fir, is the waterfall of Livaditi, the largest in the Balkans, at an altitude of 1200 m and a height of 35 meters. In 10 km distance we find the Forest village consisting of wooden houses, fully equipped that are able to accommodate up to 6 guests each.
