The monument is a truncated right pyramid - pedestal with the image of Order of Bravery and patriotic inscriptions with content directly linked to a small, well-resolved aesthetic Mausoleum - Ossuary. It was erected in the memory of the victims of the epic battles of the 21st Infantry Srednogorski Regiment led by Colonel Vladimir Serafimov who fought for the liberation from Ottoman rule of the Middle Rhodopes during the Balkan War.
The fighting feat of Srednogortsi enters into the history of the Smolyan region as the "Rhodope’s Shipka".
With the victory at the Battle of 1912 21 Srednogorian Regiment controlled the upper valley of the Arda River and created favorable conditions for releasing of the Rhodopes from the Ottomans rule. In honor of these events, in 1934 the village was renamed from Alami dere to Colonel Serafimovo (the title and the name of the commander of the regiment) and one from the heights around at which the battles were fought was called Mount Srednogorets.
