The Gunpowder Storeroom is the only building in Ardino town acclaimed both for its design and construction.It is declared an architectural monument. It was built in the last quarter of the 19th century on the command the of Ottoman rule, but by Bulgarian master builders. It represents a small but elegant stone building that reveals the stylistic features of the Bratsigovo school of architecture and building .It is an architectural masterpiece with a structure that resembles a one nave church and is a living testimony of the aesthetics of office and administrative building, preserved in the country from that era. It served as an ammunition dump for the Turkish army until the end of World War I, when the city finally came under Bulgarian rule, although it was formally affiliated to the national territory in 1912-13.After the end of The World War, The Gunpowder Storeroom was abondoned.
