The first children"s railway in Bulgaria was built in the town of Kardzhali in 1962. It is located in "Prostor" city park and has a length of 1,210 m.The history of children"s railway in Bulgaria started in Kardzhali in 1962. The first Children’s railroad was called “Pioneer" and the park where it was open used to be called "Recreation and Culture" . It was open on September 30th. The project made by engineer Valentina Yochkova had a 1210 m railway track.The walls of the train were painted by the young artists from a local art school. Traveling by train has been an attraction for many generations of Kardzhali residents as well as for visitors to the city. The railroad passes along "Druzhba" stadium, through a small picturesque tunnel and makes a circle of the entire park.
