The fortress is located in the "Balyk dere" near village Huhla.
Due to its key location Rodostitsa was a frontier fort between the First Bulgarian Empire and the Byzantine Empire.
The cultural layer is preserved at a depth of 2.20 m and covers the period IV-XIII century. At the top a large public building was discovered with powerful walls and fragments of marble columns. According to the findings, it was built in the fourth century.
