Church "St. Ivan Rilski" - town of Krumovgrad

"St. Ivan Rilski" church in Krumovgrad was built in 1934. It was consecrated on 30.10.1938 by Kiril, the metropolitan from Ploviv who later became Patriarch of the Bulgarian church.The ceremony was performed together with the Ivailovgrad vicar general Il.P.Gavrailov and the whole clergy from Krumovgrad. The event was attended by representatives of the government, military and local authorities, mayors and officials from the district, as well as members of Parliament. The mayor V.Hubenov and the county sheriff P. Trendaviloff were there as well. The event is significant because of the fact that this is the first visit of a Bulgarian bishop to Krumovgrad after the town’s liberation and accession to Bulgaria.
It is a three nave church with a length of 18 m, width of 10 m and a height of 6 m.The three naves has semi-cylindrical arches that share a roof. The apse is semi-circular and has its own roof.
The church is functional.
