The picturesque village Shumnatitsa consists of several neighbourhoods (Kamenska, Pehlivanska, Shikovska, Chilingirska etc..). Many of the houses are uninhabitable. Several bridges have been built over the river and its tributaries. The first is at the heart of Kamenska neighbourhood (near City Hall), next to the bridge, which passes through the paved road. It has one arch. The dome is 10.1 meters wide and 6.80 high.It is reveted with rectangular slabs and a cornice. The roadway is 19.30 m long, 2.70 meters wide and at one end it is extended by 1.50 m. There are two more bridges across the river.
The old bridges in the Eastern Rhodopes are a valuable architectural heritage. Through the region of Kirkovo used to pass an important road connecting the inland with Western Thrace through today"s passage Makaza.Sunce antiquity to the Middle Ages there used to be other strategic roads here. They used to connect the Upper Valley with the cities of the Aegean and Mediterranean ancient world. Traces of these roads are here today. The rugged mountainous terrain and torrential creeks and rivers have forced builders to erect many bridges . Some of them have only one, while other have many arches. The arches are semicircular, the supporting arches have a width of 4-5 meters to 8metres. There are such facilities in the villages of Dolno Kupinovo (over a tributary of the Kapinovo river) Drangovo (over Cave river) Shumnatitsa, Lozengradtsi, Tihomir, Kirkovo etc.
There is no accurate data as to how old the stone bridge in Drangovo is. Locals call it the Roman Bridge. The facility, carved by unknown craftsmen, served faithfully for centuries. It has been neglected since 1990.
At the end of the 80s, meters away from it was built a new concrete bridge, which passes through a paved road connecting the central part of the village with the border line and the neighborhoods. It is an emblematic historical building, with which each village can be proud.
The Drangovo Bridge was one of the most beautiful in the Rhodopes. The vault is 13 meters wide, 5.90 meters high; the roadway is 32.45 meters long and 4.30 m wide. There is another stone bridge in the village center. It used to have five arches, but the river has carried away two of them.
