The historic village Perithori is the "Souli of Macedonia" as named for the national struggles of the Greek people. Built on the foothills of a hill, the village has been declared as traditional for its architecture. In Perithori you can see the church of Saint Nicholas (1835), which is decorated externally with brick crosses and the impressive belfry of 1911. Another church in the village of historic and artistic interest is the church of Zoodochos Pigi (1876), with a vaulted roof and pictures of hagiographer Stergios Georgiadis from the 19th century. The depiction of the divine eye on the roof refers to influences by workshops of Mount Athos, where the local artist and prominent notable of Greek community of Nevrokopi studied.
