Located on the eastern slopes of Falakro, north of the city of Drama and within 5 km from the city center. A village with a tradition of exploitation the marble.
In the village is saved three-aisle basilica of St. George (1842), with loft for women and a chagiati while exterior adorned with a bell tower in 1890.
Despite the immediate neighborhood of the city of Drama and the modern urban lifestyle, Monastiraki shows admirable respect and follow the local cultural tradition as handed down from generations gone by eg dances and songs are still functioning institutionally in the events of the local community and young musicians come to stand as equal successors.
Top cultural event for the Monastiraki are "Arapides", a custom with event form, which is happening the day of Epiphany.
