Fortress "Kaleto" near Mogilitsa is located on the eponymous peak at 1488 meters altitude it is 5 km northwest of the village. The peak is rocky crown, elongated east-west, with high rock cliffs of the south, the entire South and Southwest side. The area has north and northwest exposure with a large slope. The fortress wall foundations were tracked across northern, northeastern and northwestern side and they protected space of about 2 acres.
The results of the drilling of two exploration sites indicate that the fortreses were built in the VI century during the Slav invasions in the Byzantine borders and probably kept small garrisons. In the following centuries Byzantium"s military threat from the Rhodope Mountains was eliminated and the built a fortress lost its strategic importance until XIII-ХІV, when they again became a factor in historical geography and the names of some of them appear in historical sources.
