"Damla Kaya" - dripping stone - village of Stareyshino

Rating:
(0)

There is a religious complex with a small waterfall, a stone passageway and water falling on the rocks. It is near the beehive tomb (Punar Kaya), near Stareishino village ( about 300 metres).People know the area as "Damla Kaya". The complex consists of three sites which, when performing the ritual, are visited consecutively. First is visited the house where the face is washed (especially the eyes) three times. Next comes the stone passageway where coins are left as a gift. Final to visit is the waterfall where a thorough washing of the body is performed. Pieces of clothing are left on the surrounding trees and shrubs as these words are spoken (or similar but to the same effect): "My illness left me here to stay, may I never see the face of disease."
The place is visited all year round, but it is believed that the water is the most healing on St. George"s day- May 6th .
It is also believed that the further away from home you leave the illness; the harder it will be to reach you again.
