The church "St. Tsar Boris - Michael I" is located in the center of Momchilgrad. It was built in 1938 on the remains of a former small wooden chapel. It is a single-nave basilica named after the canonized Tsar Boris I. As a monument of culture, the temple was renovated and consecrated three years after ,on May 2nd 2009. The church is famed for its unique carved iconostasis and the bishop"s throne, which is also carved. The wooden masterpiece reflects the techniques used by a famous Bulgarian Wood Carving School.
In 1970, an ossuary was built to commemorate those who died during the Russian-Turkish War / 1877, 1878 /and the Balkan wars/1913-1913 /. On national holidays wreaths are laid in memory of the heroes who died for their country.
There is also a monument of General Nicolas Genev - a detachment commander from Kardzhali during the Balkan wars.
